Josh Brookes, Jason O’Halloran and Christian Iddon will fight for the BSB 2020 title in the very last race of the season at Brands Hatch

The 2020 British Superbike Championship will go all the way with three riders – Josh Brookes, Jason O’Halloran, Christian Iddon – still vying for the booty at Brands Hatch, although Brookes holds the advantage with only one race remaining

The Australian produced another masterclass on the VisionTrack Ducati to secure his fourth BSB victory of the season at a pivotal moment in the second of three race to restore the lead that was chopped off by O’Halloran on Saturday

With just seven points separating the two Australians for the first of two meetings today, as Brookes was rather swallowed up by those around him to finish fourth in the first race, he wasted no time scoring his authority in race two

Taking the lead from the first corner, Brookes quickly developed a considerable lead over the opposition, led by Tarran Mackenzie – who still had a slim mathematical chance of claiming the title – and O’Halloran

However, as Mackenzie managed to close the gap with Brookes in the opening laps, the Scotsman slipped in the seventh round, releasing rival Ducati in a more than two-second lead over O’Halloran after quitting. ‘he was finally able to shake off Iddon’s attentions

O’Halloran nibbled the margin to the checkered flag but was more than a second behind, with Brookes’ return to the top of the podium increasing his advantage to 12 points with just one race to go. a third place in race three – no matter where O’Halloran ends up – will be enough for his second career BSB title, five years after his first

In terms of numbers, three riders retain a mathematical chance for glory, with O’Halloran having to correct that deficit, while his teammate Iddon – third in race two – is also within range, 18 points behind his counterpart Ducati VisionTrack

A disastrous race for Glenn Irwin as his title hopes came to an abrupt end with a lackluster run in 11th, his brother and Honda teammate Andrew Irwin spared a few blushes with his run to fourth, ahead of the FS- 3 Kawasaki Driver Lee Jackson, Luke Mossey and Danny Buchan of OMG BMW

Peter Hickman secured at least one final top ten for the outgoing Smiths Racing team, while Gino Rea and Tommy Bridewell completed the top ten
